Many artists interpreted the image of the great Kazakh enlightener and poet in their work. But in most of their works, the artists sought to show, to catch the portrait resemblance. The artist in the painting "Lonely Abai" does not achieve strict accuracy in the image. Moving away from the direct characterization of the character, the artist builds a complex-generalized image of an elderly, wise man. The sitting figure of Abay is depicted in close-up. His head is lowered down, his facial features are not painted, the palms of his hands and legs are crossed, reinforcing the feeling of his seclusion, loneliness and emptiness. It is as if he has taken in more air before taking a heavy breath, as his shoulders are slightly raised. Deep and sad reflection is felt in his whole appearance. The leitmotif of the painting reveals the tragic moments in Abay's fate. Envious and ill-wishers tried to close the ring around the poet so that the work of the great enlightener and poet remained unknown and unanswered. "But Abay's word could not remain absolutely unheard..." In the painting, Abai is presented as a man of courage, strong-willed, resolute. Supported by all shades of muted black and gray color tone, supplemented by bright accents of red, orange tones, which does not give the picture an optimistic mood, but rather fills it with notes of tragedy and utopia.
