While working on this project, I immersed myself in studying David Lynch’s vision—not as a filmmaker, but as an artist
I analyzed his paintings, drawings, and sketches, trying to grasp not the aesthetics themselves, but his way of thinking—a unique method of recreating reality through the prism of the unconscious, memory, and dreams
Inside the human mind, images exist in fragments, intermingling with one another; they represent metaphors, snippets of memories, and conversations; it is rarely a cohesive whole; rather, it consists of pieces of a mosaic that can come together and fall apart, forming something whimsical and strange
When I was thinking about the title, it was important to me to reflect the idea of duality, since the theme of doppelgängers is central to the original source. I reflected on the twin that everyone has: the “real me” and the “social me.” This resonates with me personally, since I am currently in the midst of a deep process of self-discovery and of rejecting the many stereotypes, descriptions, and images that have already become ingrained in my outer shell
The painting is an abstract composition rendered in cool shades of blue and gray. It features a combination of various textures and shapes, including elements reminiscent of a collage, which creates a sense of layering and depth. Images of faces are tightly interwoven with graphic elements, such as a playing card, lending the work an air of mystery and intrigue. The overall atmosphere of the piece evokes associations with contemporary art and digital aesthetics.
