This atmospheric cityscape, painted in oil on canvas, captures a unique view of Novosibirsk from the top of the Ferris wheel just before sunset. From this vantage point, a magnificent panorama of the great Siberian Ob River and its famous bridges, connecting the city’s two banks, unfolds. At the center of the composition is a majestic cable-stayed bridge stretching into the silhouette of the city’s right bank, with its modern high-rises bathed in the warm rays of the setting sun. To create this piece, I used the palette knife technique, which allowed me to achieve a rich texture and convey the dynamics of light. Bold, textured brushstrokes and a contrasting color palette—ranging from the deep blues and turquoises of the water to the fiery oranges, pinks, and purples in the sky—create the effect of shimmering air and the unique glow of sunset. In the foreground lies the riverside park, painted with dense, vibrant patches of green and ochre, with dot-like strokes capturing the movement of city traffic.
