The hero of Almaz Nurgozhaev's paintings is always a man, "Man as the measure of all things". But the artist sets the task to show a modern man, thinking and not indifferent. Comparing himself with life events, ideas and philosophical postulates, being with his main characters in the same rhythm, the author interprets it in his works in every possible way, forming a certain metaphorical image of the main character of his works. Nurgozhaev has never been drawn to documentaryism, accurate, reportage depiction of the surrounding reality. The artist's paintings are free improvisations. The main characters are conventional, generalized-symbolic images, the coloring is monochrome. In the center of the composition is a male figure with indistinct facial features, wire-wrapped and hypertrophied huge hands raised upwards. It is as if an angel with arms outstretched like wings is bursting out of the darkness, floating freely above the modern city among skyscrapers and winding ribbons of roads. In the brightened colorful layer, in the changes of spatial plans, creating unexpected complex angles of objects, the artist creates a general situation of the modern era, the connection and relationship between man and the city.
